- May I take a tour of Silver Trails?
- Yes, by appointment only ~ We encourage you to come take a tour if you have never boarded your pet with us so that you and your pet will feel comfortable.
- Should we bring our own food?
- We do provide food – (Blue Seal and Pedigree can). If your pet is on a special diet, or does not eat one of our standard diets, we will gladly serve them the food that you bring with them from home. Please have your food from home labeled and in a container.
- Can I bring my own bedding for my pet?
- You may bring bedding from home for your pet. Please remember to have your pet’s name on it. Silver Trails does have bedding available for our guests.
- Does Silver Trails require reservations?
- Silver Trails is a hotel for animals. We will gladly make a reservation for you during our office hours. We highly recommend making a reservation for any holiday, summer or school vacation period well in advance.
- Does my pet require vaccinations to stay at Silver Trails?
- Yes, all dogs must have: Rabies, Distemper (DHLPP) and Bordetella (Canine Cough). All cats must have: Rabies & Distemper. Silver Trails keeps records of your pet’s vaccination history. When you call to make a reservation, the receptionist can let you know if you need to get any updates. We also request that you give us all current phone numbers and addresses.
- NEW – The State of Connecticut, requires that we have a copy of your dog’s town license information.
- Please give us a cell phone number when you drop your pet off for their stay at Silver Trails.
- Can I have someone else drop off or pick up my pet?
- Yes, you may have someone else drop off or pick up your pet. Silver Trails does require that you give us permission to release your pet to someone else. We will need to have the name of the person who will be picking up your pet. This information will be kept in our files for your pet.
- What if my pet is on medications?
- Silver Trails will administer your pet medications as prescribed by your vet. We will also do insulin injection for dogs. We no longer administer any injections for cats. At time of check in, please have all of your medications labeled with your pet’s name with the dosage and frequency.
- What happens if my pet becomes ill during their stay at Silver Trails?
- While this rarely happens, it may occur that a pet will need to go see their vet during their stay at Silver Trails. Our guests are monitored during their stay, our staff knows to watch for any signs that are not normal. In such cases, we will call the owner and transport your pet to your veterinarian. If it is not possible to get your pet to his/her own veterinarian, we will transport to a local veterinarian to insure your pet’s health.
- When the kennel is closed on holidays, is the kennel staff still there?
- The kennel is fully staffed 365 days a year. The only days that the office is closed are: Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve 12:00pm, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve at 12:00pm, New Year’s Day and Easter Sunday.
